What an amazing winter of skiing we had! Thank you to all of our winter recreational users!
Our clubhouse is now closed for warming hours but the park gates will remain open from 9:00 am-9:00 pm.
We have a quick survey here for our cross country skiers. Please give us a couple minutes of your time to fill it out.
Your feedback helps us in so many ways!
Thank you to everyone who supported us during the Canada Winter Games!
This Nordic ski and biathlon facility has hosted the Alberta Winter Games in 1988 and 1998, a Canada Cup featuring a number of National team skiers, some Alberta Cup races and numerous Red Deer and Public School Loppets. Approximately 15 kilometers of ski trails and classic tracks are set each season by River Bend staff and volunteers from the Parkland Cross Country Ski Club. This vibrant ski area is used by school groups, ski clubs, and cross-country ski enthusiast of all ages and skill levels. It is also a training site for athletes that have gone on to compete at the provincial and national level. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced Nordic skier, River Bend Golf & Recreation Area provides ample space and opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the Red Deer River valley throughout the winter season.
River Bend offers world class cross country skiing on our new Canada Winter Games Trails and Biathlon area. We have also widened many of our existing recreational trails and created new ones to avoid road crossings. These include a new bridge-creek crossing and a new loop in the north east corner of the park near the boat launch area.
Please note, if you bring your four-legged companion to join you, River Bend Golf & Recreation Area is an On-Leash only park. As a courtesy lease take a bag along for you-know-what purpose and ensure that your pooch stays off the tracks that have been set. Thank-you!
Our clubhouse is now closed for washrooms and emergency phone with the exception of operating hours.
The restaurant will remain closed.
We offer 4 km of lit ski trails, which can be turned on at dusk. The lights will stay on until the park closes at 9 pm. There are 3 lit loops each with their own on switch (red button) for users to activate as needed. If you arrive and it is dark, you can turn on the lights for the evening!
